According to the Quranic chapter ‘Surat-ul-Imran’, those days there was an able reverence named Imran. His wife Hena was the daughter of Faqooz. She had a sister named Esheba (Elizabeth). Elizabeth was the wife of Hazrat Zakaria and mother of Hazrat Yahya. Hena did not have any child so she made a sacred wish that if God gives her a child then she will devote it for the service of Hekal (temple). Among Jews tradition the service of Hekal was a sacred religious custom. Her wish was accepted and she got a beautiful daughter whom she named Marium. But a girl can’t do the service of Hekal only boys can do. So it was decided that Hazrat Zakaria will do the upbringing of the child. He constructed a chamber in Masjid Uqsa where Marium was brought up in the beginning.
Whenever Hazrat Zakaria went to see the baby child he felt some fragrance and saw unseasoned fruits in her room. On his asking she smiled and replied that “Allah” sends these fruits”- means they used to come from heaven. Holy Quran and Angel are the evidence that angels used to talk to her. When Marium became grown up then she migrated to city Nasra (Nazareth) of Galeel. There she betrothed with Yusuf Bukhar (Joseph) but she had still not gone to his house or had any biological relation yet .One day an angel revealed in her room. She at once got scared but he said “O Marium!! Don’t be scared you are ‘expecting’ (means pregnant) and it will be a son; name Yasoo®” Marium got stunned. “How can it be possible when I have never been in relation with any man……….?” “The Holy Gabriel will reveal upon you and the divine power of Allah will protect him.” The Angel replied and disappeared.
